Interscope RecordsThirty Seconds to Mars has announced the title and details of their long-awaited new album.
The album, due April 6, is called AMERICA, and it will feature multiple covers featuring provocative lists of words. Those lists will also be displayed on billboards and posters in cities around the world. The album features collaborations with Halsey and A$AP Rocky, as well as a track produced by Zedd. It’s available for pre-order now.
Billboards will appear in LA, New York City and London, while posters will be located in cities like Sydney, Mexico City, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Toronto and others.
In a statement, Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto says, “For me, the lists are almost like a time capsule. Independently they may surprise, entertain or provoke, but as a group they give us a sense of the culture we are a part of and the times we are living in.”
One album design features the words, “A.I., Bitcoin, Fake News and Russia,” while another reads, “Cowgirl, Doggy, Face, Sixty-Nine, Scissors, The Crab.” Still another reads, “Kylie, Elvis, Kanye, Jesus, Lebron, Oprah.” There are 10 different covers in all, name-checking everything from prescription drugs, to YouTube stars, to sports, to multinational corporations.
