Vincent PetersKelly Clarkson‘s current album Meaning of Life was the start of a new chapter for her. Not only was it her first album for a new record company, but it was also the debut of her new sound, which is more influenced by soul and R&B music. So far, the new direction seems to be a success: Kelly has scored a Grammy nod for the project’s first single, “Love So Soft.”
“I really did want to make a soulful pop album and I just found the most amazing team to make that with,” Kelly tells ABC Radio.
As for what drew her to her Grammy-nominated single, Kelly says, “I just love the fact that it’s how my husband makes me feel. Y’know, very sexy…and it’s just an intimate song on a fun, sassy level.”
With “Love So Soft,” Kelly is competing in the category of Best Pop Solo Performance, and because her competition includes Pink, Lady Gaga, Kesha and Ed Sheeran, she’s completely convinced she won’t win. On Sunday night’s Grammy telecast, she’ll be presenting a trophy and, as she recently joked on Twitter, “gracing the world with my presence.”
Kelly’s won three Grammys in her career: one for “Since U Been Gone,” and one each for her albums Breakaway and Stronger. Tune in to see if she can add a fourth to her trophy shelf Sunday night, when the 60th Annual Grammy Awards air live from New York’s Madison Square Garden on CBS.
